Pearl Milk Tea


This is very typical drink in Taiwan. Everyone likes it!


3 ounces tapioca pearls
brown sugar
1 cup of Chinese black tea
1 cup milk or milk powder

        Tapioca Pearls

         1 cup of tapioca pearls

        Sugar Syrup

        2 spoon of white sugar
                                                         1 spoon of brown sugar
                                                         3 cups of water

Preparation for pearl:

Boil plenty of water, when the water is boiling, add 1 cup of tapioca pearls, it has to be cooked until the tapioca become transparent or soft. You need to Stir occasionally. It should be cooked for 25 to 35 minutes.

After the tapioca becomes transparent, drain the tapioca pearls and rinse with cold water to cool them down.

Prepare the sugar syrup for the tapioca pearls

in a saucepan, bring the water to boil. Add the sugars. Reduce heat and heat until the sugar crystals are dissolved. Remove from heat.

Mixing everything together:
Place the tapioca pearls in the large glass. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature. Add the milk. Pour the shaken mixture into the glass with the tapioca pearls. Serve with a thick straw. Enjoy!
